STEVE WOLLERMANN

Instructor / Owner

Steve Wollermann has spent the last ten years serving as an Infantryman in the Army National Guard.

After two years in an infantry line company, he successfully completed his battalion’s Sniper Assessment and Selection program, going on to spend most of his career in the sniper section.

After his time in the sniper section, he spent a year in a heavy weapons company.

His next duty position was as a member of the NJ Army National Guard’s marksmanship competition and training team, having previously graduated from the Marksmanship Master Trainer Course at Ft. Benning, Georgia.

He currently is a squad leader in a reconnaissance platoon, continuing both his professional development and the development of the platoon’s soldiers. Throughout his time in the military, Steve has conducted training and security missions in Africa and the Middle East.

As a civilian, Steve has worked as a Department of Defense (DOD) contractor for over five years in the role of Fieldcraft Instructor. With this position, he has been an instructor primarily covering the employment of rifles, pistols, and the associated marksmanship skills to deploying DOD personnel.

In addition to firearms training, he has taught active shooter/insider threat training, self-protection, high threat driving, foreign weapons, urban maneuver tactics, close-quarter battle, mounted operations and other skills related to operating within a hostile or uncertain environment.

Based on the experience attained from these various roles over the years, he developed a passion for teaching others the skills and activities that he spent a decade learning, developing, and refining.

This led to a curriculum to enhance the lethality and effectiveness of military members and law enforcement officers in the carrying out of their missions. Additionally, the need to train the American civilian in the use of firearms so they can defend themselves and their families and maintain their independence has never been greater.

This was the motivation for the creation of Combatant Training Group.

Joe Wolf

Instructor / Contributor

Joe has spent the last 15+ years serving as an Infantryman in the US Army. Initially, he joined the Army with a Ranger contract and, after successfully completing RIP (Ranger Indoctrination Program), went on to spend 4 years in the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. As a member of Army Special Operations, he deployed 4 times, three to Iraq, one to Afghanistan, during which time he participated in hundreds of direct-action raids.

Once his active-duty time was up, Joe decided to continue his career in the New Jersey Army National Guard, where he was selected for and assigned to his battalion’s Sniper section, and then went on to serve as a squad leader in the reconnaissance platoon. He continues to serve in this role today.

After leaving active-duty service, Joe transitioned to the private sector security world, working on the World-Wide Protective Services II (WPS II) contract for the Department of State (DoS). As a contractor, Joe was entrusted with protecting the American ambassador to Afghanistan, serving on the ambassador’s personal detail.  Some of his responsibilities included motorcade operations in a high threat environment, security at venues, advance operations to venues, motorcade route planning, mission planning, and providing security during long range fly-away missions. As a contractor, Joe deployed 8 times in support of Department of State, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Due to operational changes within the world, Joe decided it was time to stay within the continental United States and took employment as a Fieldcraft Instructor. Working as again as contractor, this time for the Department of Defense (DoD), with this role, it was Joe’s job to train DoD personnel deploying to hostile and uncertain environments. Some of the areas of instruction were firearms use, high-threat-driving, self-protection/combatives, foreign weapons, small-unit-tactics, and a variety of other skill-sets.
